Animal Testing/Neuroscience Labs, Essex, 2011

After posting the video I thought it was only right to show a report on the place.

We first explored this back in September although it was completely different to our recent encounter. All the doors where wide open and security where constantly patrolling the site. Servers where beeping, lights where flashing and maintenance workers where roaming the site.

Z Rocket Battery, Dover, September 2011

With the weekend off and a few months since last visiting Dover, Peach and myself decided to head over to meet up with the Thanet Explorers & a few others to see some more of the local sites.
As anyone that has previously explorered this site would know at the end of the slope down into the battery if you took a turn right you would have a nasty surprise. There is a steep slope leading to a hole that drops directly off the cliffe face. So caution is advised!

Mount Pleasant & Grey Gables Mine, Wiltshire, Aug 2011

This was the first location we visited as part of a 4 day trip spending 3 nights below wiltshire in various mines.
Having not seen alot of information on this mine I wasn't to sure what to expect. As we approached the gate we soon realised we wasn't just going be able to walk in like some of Wiltshire's mines that I'd been to. Not letting that defeat us we spent the next half hour or so desperatly seeking an entrance, Not having much luck we decided to ring vwdirtboy and thankfully recieved some usefull information (Cheers mate).
After a bit of brainstorming we finally found ourselfs inside.

Animal Testing Labs, Hertfordshire, Aug 2011

This report consists of photos over various visits.

On our first visit we wandered the site for what felt like an eternity struggling to gain access to any off the buildings whilst trying to keep low and avoid the on site security, Just as we was thinking of calling it a day we found a way into a small building near the front of the site Although this turned out to be a very disapointing loading bay of somesort. (We wanted creepy animal testing labs, mad scientists and flying monkeys!) It wasn't until we reached the far side of the building and stumbled accross access to a service tunnel that things started to look up!

Pyestock NGTE, Farnborough, June 2011

Pyestock is one of those sites that every explorer should see but to say that the security are on the ball is a serious understatement! It has regular security petrols and the first time we'd attempted it we had a run in with the police and had to flee the site sharpish. This day was to be no different. With the weather reaching rediculously high temperatures we found ourself running from building to building  slouching down to avoid being spotted. At one point we had to hang low in Cell 3 for over an hour whilst hearing the constant rumble of  the security vans driving round us.

Royal Victoria Hospital, Folkestone, June 2011

What a surprise this turned out to be. Over the last couple of days we had been talking about making a re-visit to Severalls, But the day before we planned to set off I recieved a call from Space Invaider explaining that they had seen a different hospital with loads of equipment, thousands of xray scans and morgue fridges still intact,
It all sounded to good to be true!

Harold Wood Mortuary, Romford, May 2011

It was in October that I last explored Harold wood hospital and even though I enjoyed roaming around the corridors of the main hospital the best bit was always sealed up tight. Shortly after posting a report on the hospital I heard a rumour that the mortuary was now accessable. So here I am 8 months later finally sharing photos from what turned out to be a very successful explore and well worth the wait.

Oriental City, Colindale, May 2011

I'd been hoping to check out Oriental city out for a few months now but it wasn't until a failed attempt at St Josephs Collage that we decided to head over and check it out.. The shopping centre which specialised in oriental foods closed on 1 June 2008 and has layed there disused since.

Severalls Mental Asylum, Colchester, May 2011.

I've been to Severalls on a few different occasions over the years but due to it's immense size I always found myself  pushing forward eagerly wanting to see as much as possible in the time available. Although the outcome was that I never found the time to stop and take photos. But during this visit I swore I would spend some quality time trying to do just that.

Transco Laboratory, Herts, April 2011.

I'm quite embarrassed to say that I've been walking past this place for years without even noticing it existed, Let alone realising it is disused. The buildings are hidden in the middle of a circle of trees and shrubbery so its difficult to notice from a public point of view.
After realising that it was indeed closed down I scouted out the perimeter and with the company of Peach we went back the following day to see what we could find.

Flashback 2009: McMullens Brewery, Hertford

This site is currently being converted into a Sainsbury's so I decided to update on here with some photos I took shortly after the brewery closed its doors in September 2008 there was plenty to see and it was in great condition by any ones standards.
I can't help but feel slightly attached to the building and It's a great shame to see it go.

Musley Infants School, Ware, Herts. March 2011

At last my first successful solo explore, I've known about this little school since it closed but as with most explores on your doorstep they just tend to get ignored. Unfortunatly the pigeons have managed to get in and leave there waste everywhere and I mean everywhere the hole building is a huge pigeon shit hole!
Ignoring that it has some nice little qualities like the arched door frames and large church like windows.

Clapham North Deep Shelter, London, March 2011

After hearing this was open again I didn't wait to risk it being sealed so without wasting a second I organised to meet up with Yeah_Mick and planned to set off into central London.
After a few more calls Wevsky and Space Invaider decided to come along too.
It's a huge system of tunnels and It was good to see the place in all its glory. The atmosphere created by the sound of the ventalation system and the lights was quite surreal, I was half expecting to bump into someone else down there.

Lost and Found YouTube page started.

I thought I would start a youtube page to share the occasional video recorded whilst out and about. It's not something I usually bother with but I might start to make more of an effort to now, Hey who knows?

AEI Henley's Air Raid Shelters. Northfleet, Feb 2011

After meeting up with the Ramsgate misfits and picking up Pez we headed straight over to the tunnels. Access was hilarious and deffinitly one to remember. Unfortunatly I cant really go into to much detail on here, But a big thanks to "The Hulk" and "Mr T" the on site manager for giving us a helping hand

Dover road trip, Feb 2011

thing. A road trip. We decided to go visit Wevsky and crack on with some of
Dover's finest.
Bags packed, Batteries charged and torches tested we set off.

Nortel sports and social club, Harlow

Explored with Yeah_Mick

I had previously visited the site a few weeks ago but decided to show yeah_mick around and get a few shots this time. It's not an overly impressive building but it certainly seems alot bigger on the inside then it looks from outside. The squash courts are the most impressive section of the sports centre, As they are almost in mint condition and has one of the best echo's I have ever heard.

Catesby Tunnel, January 2011

Explored with Peach.

First new location of the new year!
The day's plan was to hunt down some more mines in Northamptonshire but even after hours of research it didn't look like we was going to find anything. So not letting that get us down we decided to head over to Catesby tunnel.
Saying this place is huge is the understatement of the year!

Lillesden School for Girls. November 2010

This was one of the most stunning yet dangeorous buildings I've been to. The floors on the upper levels are very water damaged due the theft of its lead roof., Since the school shut its doors in 1999 the only company its whitnessed other then the occasional explorer was an episode of Dr Who filmed in its interior but since lays abandoned with an uncertain future.

Flashback May 2010: The Margate Lido.

In the early part of summer we decided to set out to The Lido in Margate, Not sure what to expect we headed down to the beach and made are way in.
We wasn't disappointed to find decay and dodgy floors everywhere! Even navigating the different levels was a challenge. The complex involves changing rooms on the lower floor, a bar on the next level and a tunnel running off that which lead to a truely special underground harbour!
